We've always thought Vampire Weekend's preppy pop sound is best suited to hot afternoons in July and August. But perhaps that's just because their sweet, airy songs about punctuation and architectural features provided a carefree soundtrack to so many of 2008's festivals.
Well, as if determined to prove their music works just as well in gloomy Autumn, the New York four piece return next Thursday for a one-off gig at King's College. With a new album on the way in January, this is a chance to see the Ivy League graduates show off their new material in a fairly intimate venue.
If you do decide to go, check out new song Horchata for a taste of what to expect at the gig. It's available now on the Vampire Weekend website.(Image / Anne Helmond under a Creative Commons Attribution licence.)
