Live Music Preview: The Hot Rats @ Hoxton Square Bar
Take half of Supergrass, add a respected producer, throw in a bunch of classic tunes and you'll end up with The Hot Rats.
This side project has seen Gaz (the one with the impressive sideburns) and Danny (the Primrose Hill one) from the Oxford four-piece team up with Radiohead producer
Nigel Godrich in the studio. And having played a clutch of festival dates over the summer, The Hot Rats come to the
Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen on 15 October.Don't expect to hear
Alright,
Caught by the Fuzz or any other Britpop classics from the duo on stage. Their act consists of reworked songs from the likes of
Gang of Four,
The Kinks and
Sex Pistols. It would probably be a disservice to call them a covers band, although their version of
Drive My Car does sound strikingly similar to the original. It's all good fun though and the retro, poppy sound could be just the job to put a smile on your face as autumn closes in. You can
get tickets online now.
