Festival Preview: Tower Festival 2009

TowerOfLondon.jpg After a packed summer of either being rained out of or scorched to a crisp in parks, fields and on the streets for a variety of festivals [local love series], we're looking forward to the Tower Festival, Thursday 10 to Sunday 20 September. This is another open air festival, this time inside Tower of London with the potential of getting soaked or sunburnt in the grounds of this magnificent monument.

It's not an opportunity to rock out and get mud-spattered to the sound of a dozen electric guitars, it's more like Proms in a castle. The line-up for the Tower Festival includes big names from the classical world such as Nigel Kennedy with the Philharmonia Orchestra, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Lesley Garratt and ballet from Sadlers Wells. There's also a Miles Davis tribute night and, as a rather special big finish, Womad returns to London for the first time in ten years, offering a full weekend of world music performances, events and family fun in this extraordinary setting.

The festival is big but book now to secure tickets. Go to the Tower Festival 2009 website for info and booking.
