Camden Fringe First Timers: Shazia Mirza

By Martin Twomey
The countdown to the Camden Fringe is down to just 6 days to go. Just enough time to take a closer look at another of the first time fringers about to pop their Camden cherries. This one's quite famous.

Who are you?

I am Shazia Mirza - Stand up comedian

What are you doing, when and where?

I am performing at The Roundhouse 6th- 9th August 2009

And why?

Because I love comedy and have written some new material and want to show it off, but especially to the people of London.

What are your hopes and fears for the Camden Fringe?

I hope I will sell out my show every night, lots of people will come and everyone will laugh together. My fears are always the same. I fear that I will not be funny and people will not be funny and I will go backstage after the show and cry, and wish I had listened to my mum when she said at 23 "Just get married and have some kids, there's no point in struggling"

What image best sums up Camden for you?

Doc Martins and people trying to sell me hash at 3pm on a Sunday afternoon.

All Camden Fringe tickets are £7.50. Book online and browse other articles about the upcoming Fringe festivities. See you there!
