London is the seventh largest French city, according to a certain Monsieur Carla Bruni, so it should be no surprise that there will be a few Bastille Day celebrations around town over the next few days.

The big one is going to be the Bastille Day Garden Party in Battersea Park this Sunday, which has all the bases covered: French markets, a Parisian DJ, tombola and prizes, events for les petits, an 18-strong French band... there's even a free pétanque tournament sponsored by pastis-maker Ricard. Given that the line-up seems to tick all possible French stereotype boxes, it sounds like it could be a bit foux du fafa. Thankfully, that won't be the case, as it's in the hands of londonmacadam who produce a French-language mag, website, and even radio for ex-pats in London. So if you come over all francophile on Sunday, don your beret, get to Battersea Park and join in.
