Blackheath Kite And Bike Festival

Bike_skies.jpg Mark the start of National Bike Week by heading down to Blackheath over the weekend for the Bike and Kite Festival. Gawp at stunt bike team MAD and let your kids learn some tricks of their own. Examine vintage bikes and check out more modern machines in a 'try before you buy' area, or get your own looked at by the experts from Dr Bike. There'll also be guided bike rides taking in the Olympics site, the O2 and Surrey Docks. Non-cyclist? Watch the majestic beauty of kites dancing and fighting in the skies and make - and fly - your own. And if none of that tickles your fancy, you can just hang out in gorgeous Blackheath chowing down on food and drinking booze from the licensed bar. Blackheath Kite and Bike Festival runs 13-14 June 12-7pm in Blackheath. Oh, and the Bugle says there isn't any parking, so cycling there may be a good option. (Image / Dave Gorman)
