Preview: Gallows

gallows.jpg The punk world has been buzzing about Gallows for the last couple of years. The five-piece play old school punk and have gained notoriety for their explosive live shows. On Monday, the band will be celebrating the release of their second full-length, Grey Britain, with a free in-store at Rough Trade East.

The album further touches on that original punk spirit, with abrasive guitars and even more abrasive vocals. Grey Britain comments mostly on the, well, less than pleasant state of the UK today, as inspired by the not-so-encouraging economic situation and the resulting social tensions that have spiralled off (see, 80s throwbacks really do extend beyond leg warmers and neon colours).

You will need a wristband to get in to the show, which will be available on Monday. You can get one when you buy your copy of the album at Rough Trade, or if you'd rather try before you buy, wristbands will be given out an hour before the show starts at 7pm.
