Join Europe's Largest Charity Walk Against HIV and AIDS

You may have seen the London Marathon last weekend and thought "I can't do that". Well, setting aside the fact that we think you could (perhaps with a little more time doing a bit of a sport, and a bit less time on the sofa watching it), none of this means you can't consider some alternatives.

One such opportunity was brought to our attention by HIV/AIDS charity Crusaid. They have just announced that this year's Walk For Life will take place on Sunday 7th June. The biggest fundraising walk in Europe, Walk For Life funds astonishing front-line services for impoverished adults, children and communities fighting HIV/AIDS. The headlines might be all about swine flu, but HIV/AIDS still remains a real pandemic - killing 2 million people in 2008. 2 million.

The walk kicks off at Potters Fields (next to Tower Bridge), and the friendly sunny stroll lasts for 10km - taking you past St Paul’s, Covent Garden, the London Eye and the Millennium Bridge.

Crucially, this is not just about fund-raising for those in need. By taking part you are also expressing solidarity with those among us who are fighting this deadly disease, who often feel left on the margins of society. You might also be remembering some of those who have already fallen. So, we say, don your walking shoes. Last year Dannii Minogue turned out. If she can, what's your excuse?

More info, and how to sign up, is up here.
