The newly-expanded Whitechapel Art Gallery opened to the public at the beginning of April, but hasn't yet been officially blessed by the wafting finger of a Windsor. Prince William is set to do the honours: on May 11th the second in line to the throne will cut the ribbon on the expanded east London site. Whether William shares his father's robust views on modern art is uncertain — fils did study art history at university, making him perhaps a little more informed than pere — but the venue's main exhibition, an underwhelming retrospective of Isa Genzken's work, will hopefully provoke a soundbite from the Prince. His father would surely approve of her Fuck The Bauhaus series.
