If you were lucky (?) enough to be staggering around Camden at the weekend you might have caught sight of Brooklyn duo Black Gold, multi-instrumentalists who have been getting a fair amount of attention in the blogosphere. After playing with M. Ward a few years ago the duo decided to work on their own project, and Black Gold was born. On listening you can detect Death Cab style earnestness and occasional Of Montreal style quirky pop turns, amongst melodies catchy enough to be featured on any American teen drama. The pop-drenched 'Detroit' is out on 18 May, and their debut album 'Rush' is out later this year, but if you can't wait to see them then get down to your favourite grimy dive the Old Blue Last tonight for the grand old sum of zero pounds.
The kind folks who look after Black Gold have given us free t-shirts to give away to the first two people to leave comments below. Nice comments of course. Keep it clean.
