In the week we launched our own photography competition, we went along to the opening of another's climactic exhibition. Urban Encounter at HOST gallery showcases winning entries to Lonely Planet's search for captivating covers for their new Encounter guides to London, Paris, Istanbul and Barcelona.

Even more interesting to the Londonist eye, however, is a collection of images produced during a Shoot Experience photographic treasure hunt. While the clues they had to solve weren't exactly testing for the average Londonista (where the Garden is cobbled and the statues move, everyone?) they captured some great urban encounters themselves.

If you need a dash of inspiration or something to oil your competitive shutterbug wheels, pop along to HOST this weekend before going out and about on your Slow Exposure shoot. More exciting news about the competition coming up tomorrow when we reveal some judges and not entirely unrelated to this post.... some prizes.

HOST gallery is on Honduras Street, off Old Street EC1 until Saturday. Open 10-6 weekdays, Sat 11-4.
