Croydon Towers Put On Ice

The mini-Manhattan skyline planned for London's least loveable borough could be cut down to size: the Foster & Partners-backed Croydon Gateway project has been placed on hold until demand justifies the skyscrapers' construction. Without guaranteed tenants ready and willing to move in, the site's backers are nervous about ploughing ahead with construction given the recession, and the four or five residential buildings won't be built without a pre-let.
