We are always a little slack-jawed when people tell us they don’t know about Kingly Court. For us it’s the ultimate shopping gem in the midst of utter mainstream mayhem. It is right off Carnaby Street, the little pedestrian chainville (alas, it is not what it was in the 60s) that’s been sung about by The Kinks and The Jam. We thought it was high time we put that right and shared the delights of this converted courtyard with you. The 28 or so retail units are occupied only by unique flagship outlets, concept stores and Unchained one-offs. This policy makes for a great mix of really special retailers. There’s also a decent amount of eating and drinking to be done in the courtyard, including the cheap-noodles-have-never-been-so-hip Cha Cha Moon.

Here are some of our favourites:

All the Fun of the Fair - because everyone needs a crocheted carrot. This is craft heaven.

Bexy Lady - a treasure trove of vintage and contemporary wardrobe-fodder

Red Sparrow - A fashion boutique for the young and not quite as young as they wish they were

Black Pearl - enter the world of Bettie Page and Marilyn Monroe

Camellia Sinensis - Lubna, the owner, mixes amazing tea concoctions to brew something special for your body and soul

Buffys Beads - from Swarovski crystals to fresh water pearls there is nothing playschool about the beads in this place

Carry me home - customised clothing for your bundle of joy

Claire Aristides - cool contemporary jewellery and lessons on how to create your own

Harriet's Muse - utterly gorgeous, decadent clothing that will make anybody (and we mean anybody) the belle of the ball

Stromboli's Circus - The Greatest Shop on Earth - awesome vintage. Everything for him, her, home and otherwise. Don’t miss the great selection of vintage fabrics.
