FREE TONIGHT? Don’t forget it’s Prom Season. Royal Albert Hall goers at lunchtime were treated to a Dr. Who Spectacular with a specially recorded mini-episode of the cult programme being screened, and featuring classical music from around the galaxy (we don’t actually mean like Klingon Opera, but stuff like Holst’s Planets).

Anyway, by way of complete contrast, this evening sees a performance of Massiaen’s ‘La Transfiguration', a rousing and passionate piece guaranteed to bring out the goosebumps even in the muggiest weather. And there are still tickets available from £3 (although these will offer restricted viewing). Best get moving – you’ve only got a couple of hours to iron your frock….
