The Londonist Literary List

The Londonist Literary List appears every Tuesday. If you’d like to bring an event to our attention, please email [email protected].

Highlights this week include two appearance by Cloud Atlas author David Mitchell (pictured), along with one by Lionel Shriver, and a new book from Elmore Leonard...

Events Around London:

Tonight, David Mitchell (pictured), author of Booker nominated Cloud Atlas, will be signing copies of his new novel, Black Swan Green. 12:30pm. Waterstone's, 82 Gower Street. FREE

Also tonight, Lionel Shriver will be reading from her new novel, Double Fault, at the Waterstone's in Picadilly. 7pm, 103-106 PIcadilly. £3

On Thursday (the 11th), Ambit hosts poets Lotte Kramer & Fiona Sampson, with an open mike to follow. 7:30pm. Upstairs at the Bath House, 96 Dean St. £4/£3 concessions.

Also on Thursday, David Mitchell appears for the second time this week, this time at UCL Bloomsbury Theatre, 15 Gordon Street. 7pm. £6/£4 concessions.

This Saturday is apparently International Writers' Day (although no one's doing anything special for any of us), and PEN will thus be celebrating the "ideas-traffickers of the twenty-first century," which sounds pretty great. 12-6pm. ICA, The Mall. £25/£20 concessions.

New Releases:

Matters of Life and Death, by Bernard MacLaverty

Complete Western Stories, by Elmore Leonard

Bluebirds Used to Croon in the Choir (stories), by Jo Meno

The Day I Wasn't There, by Helene Cixous
