Any Sonic Youth fans in the audience? Thought so... you probably already know about this then, but here's a heads-up for everyone else:

Sonic Youth bassist Kim Gordon steps into uncharted territory in a provocative collaboration with video artist Tony Ousler and filmmaker Phil Morrison. Expect a critique of advertising, automobiles and gender stereotyping, washed down with lashings of noise, SY-style. The band includes glitchy Renaissance man Jim O'Rourke, ex-DNA drum machine diva Ikue Mori, DJ Olive and percussionist Tim Barnes. Actor Michael Pitt who appeared in M. Night Shyamalan’s The Village and Gus van Saint’s Last Days (recently premiered at the Cannes Film Festival) will feature in the film produced for this event and Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore will perform in the Barbican performance only.

That's this Sunday folks (via Twitch).

More details can be found here and tickets can be purchased here.

Those with great taste in music will also want to head over to the ICA and check out We Jam Econo: The Story of the Minutemen. We touched on the film briefly when we spoke to Mike Watt back in April (gig review here) and we'll be interviewing the film makers real soon. In the meantime you can buy tickets here and read more about the film here. Be sure to watch the trailer...
