Gallery of the Week: Haunch of Venison

flavin.jpgYes, we know – everyone is talking about the Dan Flavin exhibition at Haunch of Venison, but that is with good reason – it is spectacular!

Flavin was an American artist who revolutionized modern sculpture with his light installations throughout the world. He began sketching his sculptures, but eventually they became entire rooms of light which he designed. Flavin also did some work with the lighting in Grant Central Station in New York City. You may recall seeing Flavin’s works in London previously at the Serpentine Gallery (2001).

We were considering trying to explain the warmth and energy which the installation resonates throughout the space, but really it would all sound very cliché; however, do take the time in the next few weeks to go to the gallery (which is just a few steps from Oxford Circus tube – and oh so much more pleasant than fighting the tourists off with your umbrella on Regent Street or battling your way through a sea of people at the Apple Store.)

The exhibition is on until 16 March.
