Yahoo reports with the marvellously-alliterative-yet-informative headline that British Boy Band Busted Breaks Up. (They are a London-based band, so we get the write about them.)

The band's website is currently silent on the news but the messageboard (always the best source of information about bands, we find) has gone mad, as you would expect.

The Yahoo! story seems to intimate that this is a permanent split, although the fans on the messageboard seem to be more optimistic. The main reason for the split, temporary or otherwise, seems to be the ever-fatal 'side-project'. We can't put it any better than this post on the messageboard: "Well i heard that they are on a 2 - 3 month break while charlie tourz with fightstar and in that time james and matt will write songs 4 the new album"

Front-man Charlie was recently interviewed in Kerrang, and said:

"It was a fun job but I'd never claim Busted was anything other than a pop band. Busted is not the ideal band I'd like to be in by any stretch of the imagination.

Lots of people say to me, 'I completely hate Busted'. That's completely cool with me. I understand why."

Sounds like he's got a touch of the Robbie Williams. Watch out for albums in which the best songs are written by other people before Charlie gets delusions of grandeur and starts impersonating other singers.

Messages on the board range from the thrillingly punctuation-free "im loving all this hate for charlie he has ruined busted" to the amazingly overly-punctuated "yes totally charlie is just selfish n i think he duznt deserve to of even been in busted,,,,,,,,,,n so wot if he stands in the middle he isnt front man,,,,,,,,if u ask me james n matt deserve to be called that more than him there waaaaaaaaay more talented,n they wudnt diss the fans either,,,,,,,,where just charlie get of i mean really!!"

Our bet is that the lack of US success has been the main cause of the split, with the ambitious Charlie wanting to try his luck with another band. Whatever the reason, it looks like the end, and we'll publish helpline details for all you distraught fans as soon as we can.
