A few yards from the bright lights of Canary Wharf there is a remarkable and rare survivor of island life. The North Pole is a 'proper little pub', just as they used to be.
Despite the chilly name there is a warm and friendly welcome for all. Hence the good mix of locals, urban explorers and a smattering of the financial guys from Canary Wharf. Great for those seeking something a little more genuine, away from The Wharf’s rather superficial and formulaic bars and eateries.
Beers range from the usual Fosters and Kronenbourg lagers to stalwart ales like Pedigree, Old Speckled Hen, Doom Bar, Timothy Taylor's Landlord and London Pride. Food, served lunch times only is of the sausage, egg and chips variety, much favoured by the many local builders. Don’t miss the East End Fives variant dart board. A nice little find...
