A nifty gastropub at the foot of Hampstead hill. Black on the outside, warm on the inside, and possibly something of a celebrity haunt (based on an n=1 sample size, in which we spotted a certain long-haired, female television presenter chomping away on her Sunday lunch).
There's an excellent beer choice here, with five or six uncommon draught ales to choose among, as well as dozens of bottles. The wine list is also exemplary, with a small but playful selection. The pub also serves bottles of Mongozo pilsner, to keep gluten-free drinkers happy (see our guide to gluten-free drinking). The food's pretty damn fine, too.
If the smallish downstairs is busy, try the upstairs room, which also has access out onto a rooftop beer garden.
