Housed inside one of the area's landmark buildings, Woolwich Equitable is a former building society turned pub. The large banking hall makes for a strangely intimate drinking space, helped somewhat by the cosy soft furnishings and granny's old sofas. We plonked ourselves down on some rescued theatre seats beside a creaking bookcases. We half expected our pint to be served in an old teapot or something, but received only standard issue glassware. Two or three uninspiring ales come on cask, and about the same number of ciders. The more interesting stuff, as is often the case with Antic pubs, comes on keg. If you're here for a meal, the plum seats are upstairs on the balcony level.
