This pub was voted one of the best in Hackney by Londonist readers.
Perhaps a dozen miles from Kenton, with an unfamiliar language scrawled above its windows, the Kenton is an enigma of a pub. Inside, things couldn't be more joyful. Small groups sit around the main bar, admiring the bunting, toy robot and prominent moose head. We opt for the more snug back room, which incorporates a book swap, a bold map of Europe and a set of painted skateboards. The small garden carries on the moose theme. And the bunting. We learn that the pub is ran by Norwegians, which probably explains the cryptic writing on the outside, and the decorative fauna. This a great funtime pub, with so many board games you could stack them all into a meta-Jenga. Entertainment similarly extends beyond a simple pub quiz, with film nights, DJs, jukebox, rock n roll bingo and, get this, rock paper scissors nights. The drinks choice is less startling, lean even, but somewhat cheered by a selection of cocktails.
