This picture perfect locals' pub is an absolute joy. It's no rarity these days for a pub to offer numerous options from small breweries, but the M&C's been doing it for years. Indeed, the retro-style website reckons that 2,163 different real ales have been sold since 1996. Six ales were on draught during our most recent visit.
The cosy interior is warm and inviting and...what's that? A pool table round the back. We're actually rather glad this isn't our local as we'd never leave the place. It even has literary connections, being the model for The Flying Swan in the novels or Robert Rankin. The pub's Thai kitchen seems to have been replaced by more regular fare since our last visit.
