Tower Bridge Arms, in Bermondsey

Tower Bridge Arms, in Bermondsey

Part of our Best Pubs in London microsite. Is your local listed?

Formerly part of the late, lamented Draft House chain, this corner pub is now under the wing of the BrewDog behemoth. Branding is at a minimum, however, and you could be forgiven for thinking that you're in an independent cornerhouse.

Its prominent position at the foot of Tower Bridge means it sees plenty of passing trade. Half given over to diner-style eating, it looks all geared up to attract a tourist crowd. Like all BrewDogs, though, the emphasis is on quality booze and American-style pub grub.

Unlike most craft ale places, there's plenty of room to stretch your legs — so this is a good bet if you want to try a niche beer, but also want to get a table. That said, it can get very busy at weekends.

There's also a large (100 people) room for hire, and under-road vaults.

Images below are from the Draft House days, which we leave in place for posterity.
