This Video Shot From A London Bus Shows How Empty The Streets Are Right Now
Trafalgar Square appears around 11am how it usually would in the wee small hours

If you're now working from home, away from central London, you may be wondering what the city looks like. Yesterday morning (18 March) at around 11am, Redditor Johnny Rei posted a video of his bus journey from Marylebone to Old Kent Road.

It shows how empty — if not deserted — the streets of central London have become. The queue from outside Madame Tussauds has vanished; Piccadilly Circus misses its throngs of tourists; Theatreland has lost its glitz; Trafalgar Square appears as it usually would in the wee small hours.

Noticeable is the number of buses still on the roads, although TfL has said that from Saturday (21 March), services will be reduced to a Saturday-style timetable.

Earlier today, TfL announced drastic cuts to service across London, in a bid to halt the spread of Covid-19, including closing up to 40 tube stations in the coming hours and days. The official advice from the authorities is not to travel, unless you absolutely have to.

On Reddit, the video-maker explained: "I have a hospitality job and still have to turn up to work despite the virus."
