A free light festival comes to Battersea Power Station this month — with six eye-catching installations glowing around the iconic four-chimneyed building.

Running from 13 January-27 February, Light Festival 2022 features:

  • Digital Origami Tigers by LAVA  — just in time for the Chinese Year of the Tiger.
  • Eternal Sundown by Mads Vegas — an apocalyptic sunset using 140 fluorescent tubes.
  • Greenhouse by Victor Engbers — a glowing 'greenhouse' created with uranium-glass.
  • Run Beyond by Angelo Bonello — a series of illuminated figures, running, rolling and leaping.
  • Picto Sender Machine by Felipe Prado — a purposefully low-res big screen, which records your movements.
  • Antenna Sud by Michela Bonzi — bringing the once-ubiquitous antenna back onto the urban landscape.

Picto Sender Machine by Felipe Prado invites you to record a short, low res video message — through movement only.

The festival is curated in partnership with the Light Art Collection, and founded by the Amsterdam Light Festival — where these designs debuted. If you're a light fest aficionado, you may already recognise some of these installations, most of which have previously appeared in London — although it's the capital's debut for Run Beyond.

Refreshments are also offer from the likes of Black Sheep Coffee; Japanese patisserie, Kova; Tapas Brindisa; Vagabond Wines; and Battersea Brewery.
