NOT JUST A REFUGEE: Coinciding with Refugee Week, Conway Hall unveils a new photographic exhibition by Adiam Yemane — a refugee herself, born in Ethiopia and raised in Eritrea before coming to London. The photos show real refugees who have overcome the hardships of their early lives to succeed and achieve against the odds. Conway Hall (Holborn), free, just turn up, 17 June-31 August
ROSE CEREMONY: The quirky annual Knollys Rose Ceremony — a tradition dating back to 1381 — takes place today. A red rose is picked from a garden in Seething Lane and taken to Mansion House on an altar cushion from All Hallows by the Tower, where it is presented to the Lord Mayor. The public aren't allowed into Mansion House, but you can follow the rose on its route. Seething Lane Gardens, free, just turn up, from 11am
CURATOR TALK: Curator Jemima Jarman gives a talk about the stories behind current exhibition Great British Jews. The exhibition itself looks at the contributions that Jewish people have made to the country, including the founders of M&S, and the family who brought fish and chips to London. WINDRUSH REGGAE: History and music expert Kwaku gives a talk about why there probably wouldn't be a reggae genre if it was not for the trafficking of Africans to the Caribbean, and the voluntary migration of Africans from Caribbean to Britain, on voyages such as the Windrush. JAMES BOND: Treat yourself to a martini (shaken, not stirred) or some food from the nearby bars and restaurants before settling down for a free outdoor screening of 2012 film Skyfall, starring Daniel Craig as James Bond. Canada Square Park (Canary Wharf), free, just turn up, 7pm
SCIENCE SHAMBLES: Be in the audience for a live recording of podcast Science Shambles. Host Helen Czerski and panelists Lucie Green, Suzi Gage and Linda Cremonesi put the world to rights by highlighting some of the fantastic science research going on around the world that doesn't make the headlines. MY LEONARD COHEN: Part music gig, part personal narrative, My Leonard Cohen is a tribute to the late musician. D'Arrietta and his band perform renditions of Cohen's songs, telling us about the inspirations behind them as they go, with a dose of humour thrown in. NEON LIFE DRAWING: Take part in an art class with a difference. Neon Naked Life Drawing sees the models covered in UV reactive body paints as they move like living sculptures.
