Family-Friendly Places To Play Crazy Golf In London

London has plenty of crazy golf venues for adults, like Swingers, Junkyard Golf Club and Birdies. If you're after something a bit less cocktail-heavy and a bit more wholesome, or you have kids in tow, here's our pick of family-friendly crazy golf courses in London. We've also provided a map at the bottom.

Things change fast in a time of coronavirus. Check on venue websites and social media ahead of visiting for the most up to date details.

Jurassic Encounter, New Malden

These 18 prehistoric holes are flanked by nine giant dinosaurs, and surrounded by caves and waterfalls. The course is open every day, and stays open until 9pm for anyone who fancies a bit of night golf.

Moby Golf, Dagenham

We'd make the "whale of a time" joke here, but Moby Golf's website beat us to it. The course is based on the whale which is rumoured to have washed up in Dagenham in 1790. Unsurprisingly, water features prominently in the course, but the highlight is the 9ft mouth of a full-size sperm whale, which you have to putt through to complete the course. (You can find out more about the area's links to whales here.)

Mr Mulligan's Dino Golf, Sidcup

There's a special place in our hearts for these giant dinosaurs — they were our introduction to the London adventure golf scene back in 2015, when we ventured down to the scenic delights of the A20 in Sidcup. Back then it was known as Lost Island Encounter and you got a choice of two courses. Today, it's one giant, 36-hole adventure. This Mulligan chap has venues all over the country, so we trust he knows what he's doing with our prehistoric pals.

Dragon Quest, Croydon

18 holes, a hoard of gold, fire-breathing dragons — what could possibly go wrong? Having said that, we'd rather risk the wrath of the dragon than go anywhere near the lurid blue water.

Dinosaur Escape, Northolt

It's nice to see one of these courses that shies away from the trend for that lurid blue water we were just talking about (what's with that, golf gods?) although we're not sure that the red is a vast improvement. Either way, expect "life size prehistoric predators" dotted among the 18 holes.

Playgolf, Harrow

Designed for younger golfers and their families this nine-hole course has a nautical theme with plenty of water and bunkers to avoid.

Jungle Falls Adventure Golf, Oakwood

According to its website, this is "North London's premier attraction". Some might quibble with that boast, but we can't argue with the fun to be had at this 18-hole course. Oakwood becomes Palmwood as you move through a tropical golfing landscape populated with giant snakes and other beasties, and explore the 'secret caves'.

Lost Jungle London, Edgware

You can't miss this place, driving past on the A41. The 36 hole leviathan of north London golf course really stands out from the surrounding fields. Play along Congo and Amazon-themed trails set among a genuinely impressive delta of rivers, cascades and pools, which are only slightly lurid blue in colour.

Lost Jungle London, Watford Bypass, HA8 8DD. Another course in nearby Borehamwood (just outside London) can be found off the A1 and has a dinosaur theme.

Putt in the Park, Wandsworth/Battersea/Acton

Putt in the Park in Wandsworth Park

Putt in the Park is the tamer cousin of the above courses — no whales, no dinosaurs, just good old-fashioned crazy golf. Find it at three different London locations: Wandsworth Park, Battersea Park and Acton Park (at the time of writing, a fourth on Clapham Common is under development). The courses are designed for all levels of golfer, from complete novices to the family show-off. All three beautifully landscaped courses have cafes.

Putt in the Park see website for location details.
