Time Out plans to open a new food market hall in Waterloo in 2021, taking over the old Eurostar International Terminals.

17 restaurants and three bars will reside in the 135,000 sq ft Time Out Market inside Waterloo station. The redevelopment, known as Waterloo London, will also contain other local and national retailers. Just this week, Waterloo's former Eurostar platforms reopened to domestic train services.

Time Out already has a food market in Lisbon, with 2019 openings planned in Miami, New York, Boston, Chicago and Montreal. Prague is also due to open in 2021. A London venue has been in the works for a while, but plans for Spitalfields were rejected in 2017. According to Time Out Group, it is still pursuing consent for that venture, so London may end up with two Time Out Markets.

Julio Bruno, CEO of Time Out Group plc, said:

London was the birthplace of Time Out in 1968 so it is a true milestone to bring Time Out Market to our city and in such a fantastic location. For 50 years we have helped people go out better in the greatest cities around the world and now we are bringing the best of the city to Time Out Market London.

Planning permission has already been granted for the Waterloo site, but as Eater London points out, the license agreement which scuppered the Spitalfields plans hasn't yet been finalised.
