The undisputed kings of vegan junk food just got bigger.

We know, we know. To call anyone 'undisputed kings' in a vegan scene as stacked as London's, is bold. But there's no denying Rudy's Dirty Vegan Diner. It doesn't just take that title, it demands it.

Clearly the punters agree with us, as Rudy's has tripled it's capacity just a year and a bit after opening. That means more people can attempt to wrap their paws around the ridiculously, gorgeously messy Dirty Burger, and find salvation. Or they can live out their true New York deli fantasy in London with a Reuben, stuffed (and boy, do we mean stuffed) full of seitan pastrami. The recipe has been tweaked since our last visit, and tastes even better now. Here's hoping we'll go back in a year's time and find it's gone up yet another notch.

And if there's any space left in your stomach — and even if there isn't — there are plenty of sides to fill you up. Mozzarella sticks prove that the best way to eat vegan cheese is hot, where you can properly enjoy the gooey texture. Break the sticks apart and watch as the cheese inside mesmerically oozes. The Buffalo Wingz come draped in a spicy ranch sauce, celery sticks sitting neatly alongside. They're taunting us. "Remember veganism is about eating healthily" they snidely say. "Not today it isn't!" we victoriously respond, ripping the wings apart further with our teeth.

Like all the best diners, there's far more to this place than savoury options. We tried two of the ridiculously OTT milkshakes. These multicoloured constructions are a dentist's worst nightmare, so sugary are they, which means we can't stop sipping on them. Of course there are beers, and soft drinks for those who can't quite handle so many flavours at once.

Top that all off with another burger — the crispy seitan filled Saboteur — AND another side — the best vegan Mac'N'Cheez in London — and we have a problem. At the end of our meal, standing is a challenge. We get there eventually, but our gravitational pull seems to have doubled in just an hour. And we can give Rudy's no greater praise than that.
