Christmas Dining The Dickensian Way
A Dickensian-flavoured Christmas dinner

Opened this year on Waterloo Road, Hello Darling's the bricks-and-mortar restaurant baby of design studio Darling and Edge.

Drawing on their set design background, their Christmas offering's a flamboyant, theatrical team effort with their neighbours at The Old Vic. Inspired by the Vic's current show — read our review here — their December set menu is three courses of A Christmas Carol-themed dishes.

Don't worry: they're not channeling the Dickens of tripe and cowheel stew, or Martin Chuzzlewit's 'highly geological home-made cakes'. This is more of a fun, lavish whirl through Yuletide Victoriana with nods to the theme: brandy cream, sherry-soaked cabbage, and confit goose pie. And best of all, an IRL figgy pudding wheeled in on an ornate dessert trolley. Does it get much more Ye Olde Christmassy than that?

The Christmas Carol-inspired menu is £18 for two courses or £21 for three courses and runs for December.

Hello Darling, 131 Waterloo Road, SE1 8UR.
