London's Secret Castle Hosts An Enchanting Christmas Event Next Month

London's not short of carol concerts and Christmas fairs at this time of year, but occasionally one stands out from the crowd — like this one, taking place in a little-known castle in south-east London.

Severndroog Castle has long been a favourite of ours, not least for its spectacular views over seven counties, so we can't wait to see it in all its festive finery. For one day only, a choir is on hand to serenade visitors with carols, and Father Christmas himself is scheduled to stop by.

The local SE18 Choir has prepared a programme of Christmas classics — feel free to join in, or simply sit back and enjoy the show (perhaps with a glass of mulled wine, available to buy at the Terrace Tearoom...).

Kids are kept busy with craft activities, including a chance to make tree decorations to take home, and they'll receive a gift from Santa too... provided they're on the 'nice' list.

Tickets to Christmas At The Castle include access to the castle and viewing platform, in addition to the festive activities — and we'd recommend going for the afternoon session if possible, as you'll be able to watch the sun setting over London.

Christmas At The Castle is at Severndroog Castle, Shooters Hill, SE18 3RT. Saturday 14 December, 11am/1.30pm — tickets are £7 adult/£5 child and need to be booked in advance.
