Reflections in the moat

Illuminated branches, a talking tree and a maze of lights — just some of the features of Eltham Palace, a light trail in the grounds of the English Heritage-owned art deco building.

Light tunnels — a modern-day Instagram staple — feature too, with a triad of tunnels on the eastern side of the garden, and a further arch illuminating a bridge over the moat. Finish off with a turn on the funfair, or toasting a marshmallow or two over an over firepit. A word of warning though — dress for mud. Despite best efforts at tread board and bark chippings, the path was getting muddy and slippery in places on our visit.

Take a look at some of our snaps from the first night of Enchanted Eltham 2018.
