The colourful illuminations festival is now in its 14th year of lighting up the woodland surrounding the west London manor house, and making it look absolutely magical.

Over 400 different tree species in the historic arboretum are illuminated in a variety of colours after dark, making for a very photogenic winter wander. Lasers, strobe and flood lights in a rainbow of colours add magical splashes of colour to the darkness.

The romantic trail — about a mile long — winds past the ornamental lake and ends in Syon House's Great Conservatory. It's aimed at all ages, and is ideal for families with children, as well as couples looking for something different to do on date night.

Food and drink is available to buy in the courtyard at the end of the trail — though it's worth bearing in mind that the house itself is shut to visitors during the winter months. The Enchanted Woodland opens its gate for Friday-Sunday nights across three weekends in November and December.

The majority of money from tickets sales goes into funding the event itself, but any remaining income from the Enchanted Woodland is reinvested into Syon Park's Gardens and Great Conservatory — recent works have included the restoration of historic stone vases, and of the north west quadrant of Dome of the Great Conservatory.

Enchanted Woodland is at Syon Park on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings from 15 November-1 December 2019. Tickets are on sale now.
