Discover The Latest Gems On London's Art Scene At The Friendly And Free New Artist Fair

This is a sponsored article on behalf of New Artist Fair.

Sometimes, London’s vibrant art scene can feel locked away behind closed doors – all high-prices and invites-only. But there's one big event on the capital's art calendar that changes all of that... and you’re invited.

The New Artist Fair, back for a ninth consecutive year, doesn’t take itself too seriously. In fact the weekend fair at the Old Truman Brewery, filled with over 100 exhibiting artists from all corners of the art world, absolutely smashes those stereotypes. Not only that, but it won’t cost you a penny to come along for the ride, because entry on the Saturday and Sunday is totally free.

The premise is simple: art should be accessible to all. New Artist Fair is your chance to survey the best emerging talent from both the UK and further afield, without a hint of pomposity. It might just be the friendliest art fair around.

From painters to printers, sculptors to ceramicists, New Artist Fair is a three-day celebration of over 100 handpicked artists. Many of the exhibitors from past years have gone on to display their works in the UK’s top galleries, so this is a rare opportunity to get up-close-and-personal with the stars of the future. Always thought yourself ahead of the curve? Now you can put your taste to the test.

No cash or panache is necessary, but if you are hoping to snag a beautiful bargain, this is the place to do it. There's a ceiling price of £2,000 on every single artwork in the fair, but most pieces come in well under that. Prints or small works of art start from just £50, so there’s no better time to find that one-of-a-kind treasure to grace your home with, and invest in the ‘next big thing’ while they’re still affordable.

Just want to enjoy the art? You can do that too. The welcoming atmosphere at New Artist Fair lets you browse to your heart’s content. Cramped booths are a thing of the past, and the open plan gallery layout rewards the wandering eye, making it easier than ever to survey all of the talent and zone in on your favourites. Meet the makers, chat over charcoal, potter around paintings or simply wander at will. You’ve got the whole weekend to soak it all in.

And there’s more. This year, New Artist Fair has partnered with Art Experiences, so once you’ve browsed your socks off you can watch art in action, with live demonstrations from several of the exhibiting artists.

Those of you with a taste for something a little extra special needn't miss out either. Add a bit of glamour to your visit by getting tickets to the exclusive Private View on the Friday night. You'll get a front row seat to all the art on offer before the crowds arrive. As well as having your pick of the pieces, you’ll also be treated to live art creations, a fully-stocked bar, tunes from the DJ and the opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the big names on London’s art scene. Tickets are available for just £8 here.

New Artist Fair: Summer Exhibition is on at The Old Truman Brewery from 13-15 September 2019. Private view on Friday 6pm-9pm costs £8 (plus booking fee), with free entry the rest of the weekend from noon-6.30pm. Click here to find out more.
