Ethereal Images Of 1930s London At Night

Back in the 1930s, photography was a man's world, which makes these extraordinary photos of London at night from amateur photographer Mercie Lack even more special.

Lack is best known for capturing the Sutton Hoo excavations in 1939, but these photographs show another side of her work.

There's something a touch ethereal about them. It's worth noting how difficult it was to take photos at night using contemporary technology, so these are an incredible feat of skill.

Take a look at Lack's images:

London Nights runs from 11 May-11 November 2018.
