Place2Be
Children's mental health charity Place2Be kick off the carolling season in late November. They've got a star-studded line-up for their concert, celebs that will read and perform include: Jenna Coleman, Joe Stilgoe, Margaret Keys, Hermione Norris, Sophie Dahl and Nigel Lindsay. £35 for adults, free for under 14s. 29 November.
Carols by candlelight
There are lots of different carols by candlelight services, especially at St Paul's Church in Knightsbridge. Breast Cancer Care's event is a safe bet for a great cause. Last year's sellout event enjoyed readings from Cherie Blair, Catherine Tate and Vanessa Redgrave and there'll be a similarly star-studded line-up this year. There's an intimate dinner afterwards too, in the Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel. £15-£40, or £165 for a service and supper ticket, 5 December.
Children's Air Ambulance
The inaugural Children's Air Ambulance Christmas carol concert is another excellent candlelight option. There'll be readings from Strictly's Anton du Beke, Lesley Joseph, Kara Tointon and Jane Garvey. It's happening at the Holy Trinity Sloane Square, with performances from an ensemble of talented musicians as well as local school pupils. £25 for adults, £15 for children, 5 December.
Battersea Dogs
Battersea Dogs and Cats Home bring along their canine residents for this annual concert. It's at St Luke's Church, Chelsea, and they ask that you leave your own dog at home — their canine Guard of Honour will more than make up for it. £10-£25, 5 December.
VSO
VSO do things a little differently for their annual Christmas carol concert at Central Hall, Westminster. They invite musicians from around the world to come and perform; this year there'll be a special set from Jo N'Gala, a Cameroonian drummer. There's also some more traditional fare thrown is as well, alongside readings from Bill Nighy, Benjamin Zephaniah, Alex Jennings and Indira Varma. Greenwich
Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice hosts a unique carol service in the stunning 18th century chapel of the Old Royal Naval College. Tickets include a festive drink and mince pie before the concert. £25, 9 December.
St Martin-in-the-Fields
St Martin-in-the-Fields plays host to a whole bevy of carol concerts. The Trafalgar Square church has so much on it can be a little overwhelming. Our picks include the annual Missing People Carol Service. The concert takes place in aid of the charity Missing People and is hosted by Sir Trevor McDonald. Music will be performed by Royal Mail's 'Mail Voice Choir', the choral scholars of St Martin's and the Missing People Choir, which is made up of people who've had a loved one go missing. £16.52, 12 December.
London's Air Ambulance
The annual London's Air Ambulance Christmas Carol Service is at St Andrew Holborn Church. To switch things up a little, carols will be sung by the Rock Choir. There will also be traditional Christmas readings, which are usually a treat. Adults £25, Children £12.50, 12 December.
Childline
Thirty years of Childline are being marked at this event at St Paul's Cathedral. Celebrated tenor Russell Watson — or 'The People's Tenor' as he refers to himself — is the special guest performing. After the carol service there will be a special gala dinner in the crypt of the Cathedral, which aims to raise over £150,000 in aid of Childline. £22-£99, 13 December.
Marylebone
St Marylebone Parish Church hosts a fair few carol services this year. Keep an eye out for The Sick Children's Trust offering on 14 December. Barbara Windsor, Charles Dance, Anne Reid, Katy Brand, Alice Beer and renowned soprano Margaret Keys are celebrity attractions, alongside the choir of Boutcher Primary School. After the service there will be wine and mince pies, just in case you weren't feeling christmassy enough already. Adults £15, Children £7.50, 14 December.
Children & the Arts
Children & the Arts are pulling out all the stops for their 10th anniversary concert. Hosted by Aled Jones, there will be performances from soprano Danielle de Niese, Joe Stilgoe and flautist Lisa Jones along with a reading from Dame Penelope Wilton. If you can't make it, the whole concert is being recorded and will be broadcasted on Classic FM at 6pm on Christmas Eve. £24.50 for adults, £12.25 for kids. 15 December.
Cadogan Hall
Chelsea's Cadogan Hall is a real hub of carolling and this year is no different. Our pick is the performance from the excellent Bach Choir. Special guests are London City Brass and organist Philip Scriven. £13.50-£32, 16 December.
St Paul's Cathedral
If you're looking to find a carol service for free, head down to St Paul's Cathedral which has lots of carol concerts through December. They advise turning up early though, especially the closer it is to Christmas as the carolling craze takes over, their events become a lot more popular.
