The voice of London Underground's famous 'mind the gap' announcement has died, age 62.
Phil Sayer can be heard making announcements across the tube network.
His most famous catchphrase is the caveat to passengers about the void between the platform and the train (this was first performed by Oswald Laurence in the 1950s).
Sayer is survived by his wife, Elinor Hamilton, also a voice-over artist for public transport (this earned them the nickname 'Britain's most apologetic couple').
A Facebook tribute from Sayer's wife said: "Phil Sayer — voice of reason, radio, and railways. A dearly loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
"We are sorry to announce that this service terminates here."
