The stern faces of the head-down commuters, by George Segal, fittingly located just outside Liverpool street station.

Everyone's always in a rush around Liverpool Street station. Why not arrive half an hour early to take a wander around the area and take in all the great art [PDF] on display both outside and inside the buildings.

Some works will be familiar to regular commuters including the monumental rusting Richard Serra sculpture at the Broadgate Circle entrance to Liverpool street station. But what else is there to see? Here are some of our highlights:

This colourful abstract face by Bruce Maclean will be familiar to anyone who has walked up Bishopsgate.

Art can be found indoors too. Like this mural by George Sake in Exchange Square.

The Broadgate Venus by Fernando Botero soaks up the London gloom.

A set of stone sculptures by Xavier Corbero form a family unit.

Visiting all 16 pieces will take about an hour. Most sculpture trails are let down by their websites. However, we found this one to be informative and easy to navigate. The Sculpture in the City art trail is also nearby.
