Bits Of London That Look Like They're In Star Wars

London's connections to Star Wars might seem scant. In fact, the first three films were largely shot just a 20 minute train ride from the capital at Elstree Studios. Many other nods to the films can be seen around town, if you use your imagination...

The bulky, 'Stalinist ski slope' Unite building on the edge of the Olympic Park bears an uncanny resemblance to a Jawa sandcrawler.
Meanwhile, in Canada Water, the library building looks like a smaller Jawa transport.
If the Force is strong in you, take a boat out to the Thames Estuary, where you'll find a series of Second World War forts that would look at home on the green moon of Endor.
Not quite sure what this postmodern structure in the City is called, so we're going to dub it the R2D2 Tower.
If the Rebel Alliance ever want to deliver a destructive blow to Canary Wharf, they'll need to fly along this connecting corridor.
The Senate Chamber on Coruscant... the spitting image of the Royal Festival Hall's boxes. Look out for ET.
Shoreditch had its own Star Wars mural in the form of a pixelated Luke and Darth, duelling it out on the side of the multi-storey car park. Sadly, it's now gone.

Southgate tube station was designed by Charles Holden, who was clearly influenced by Jabba's Palace on Tatooine. Image of tube station by Sunil060902 under Creative Commons licence.
In 2011, the BT Tower was lit up like a lightsaber to celebrate the release of the films on Blue Ray. Image by Dean Pluthero under Creative Commons licence.
