London Christmas Gift Guide: Food And Drink Edition

Tis the season to eat, drink and be merry, so why not give the food and booze lovers in your life one of these most excellent consumable gifts. They're all made in London, of course.

The name Fatties Bakery is a little confusing, because this south London sugar mistress makes sweets, specifically caramels, and boy, are they good. There's some real depth of flavour to these, and just the right amount of salt. Who needs fillings anyway? A bag of these will go a long way to ensuring you stay on the Christmas card list. Consider getting a few of their Dip Dabs while you're there too; they're a long way from those mouth puckering bags we used to suck on as kids, and made with real fruit, too. That means they're healthy. Definitely. Give the gift of classy candy this Christmas. Fatties caramels and sherbets, see website for stockists and prices.

London has loads of hot sauce producers (read about some of our favourites here), and online purveyors of good things to eat, World of Zing, have packaged them up into a nifty little hamper which you may choose to bestow upon your loved ones in the form of a gift. There are two sizes, mini at £21.95, and large at £33.95 (both with gift basket).

Is there any greater gift than the gift of gin? We struggle to think of one. Perhaps myrrh. Anyway, there are plenty of London gins out there on the market, but we love the Sipsmith distillery, and they're offering a package which includes a tour (seriously, it's impressive) and naturally, a bottle of their juniper infused drink of the gods. Sipsmith gin tasting and distillery tour experience for two, £60

Tis the season to get sozzled so why not give the gift of beer this Christmas? This London beer selection contains bottles from some of London's best small breweries, which we've handily mapped by borough, because we're good like that. London beer bundle, £20.

Fortnum's have made a neat little selection box of honeycombs made by bees from Wapping, Harrow and an area near Tower Bridge. Honeycomb taster selection, £20.

What's the best way to pickle cucumbers? Why, using gin of course. These addictive discs are crisp, floral and seem to go with everything. A handy stocking filler. Newton and Pott gin pickled cucumbers, £5.20

We are big fans of the wondrous invention that is the peanut butter cup, and now Hackney based chocolatier Eat Chic are making them, and they are making them good. They're sold out at Selfridges, but we happen to know they're running a pop up shop at Old Street underground, 30 Nov - 13 Dec.
