Devilled duck hearts at Cinnamon Soho.

Brains at Cinnamon Soho

Braiiinssss. Cinnamon Soho will be serving a brain burger, consisting of deep-fried lambs' brains topped with onion rings, tomatoes and salad. It's served with masala wedges, and that dip most beloved of zombies everywhere — coriander chutney. If brains seem an organ too far, then try the devilled duck hearts, coated with coriander seeds and chilli, served with a hot garlic chutney.

Pumpkin toastie at Melt Room. Spooky.

Pumpkin toasties at Melt Room

The more variations on cheese toasties the better, right? The roast pumpkin melt at Melt Room will contain, obviously, pumpkin along with Wookey Hole cheese, sage leaves and pine nuts. We just hope they've got the balance right with all that cheese and sweet pumpkin as it could be a little on the sickly side. How fitting.

Pumpkin risotto at Butcher and Brine

Street foodies Butcher and Brine will be serving a limited edition pumpkin risotto. The risotto is unusually made with barley, and flavoured with pumpkin, honey and a sage puree. Hang on though, because there's more — a gooey hen's egg with a crispy coating, and a confit chicken leg for good measure. Don't mind if we do.

Pumpkin dim sum

Royal China Baker Street is serving mini pumpkin dim sum filled with purple sweet potato, while Yauatcha will serve roast duck and pumpkin puffs which really do look impressively similar to miniature pumpkins.

Pumpkin ice cream at Gelupo

Soho ice cream pedlars Gelupo have come up with a pumpkin and cinnamon flavour for Halloween.

The North London Pumpkin Rescue

The team behind Hubbub are upset about the 18,ooo tonnes of pumpkins discarded each year after Halloween and they've decided to take action. They're organising a range of events and meals which you can find details of on their website. Every pumpkin deserves a home! In your belly.

Little Ghost Bagels

They have a Halloween-suitable name, and they're black. What more could you ask for?

Black seafood at Morito

The Morito seafood festival is officially moving over to the dark side for Halloween. They'll be serving their signature black ink rolls with squid, piquillo pepper and alioli, plus arroz negro with cuttlefish and preserved lemon. There will also be spiky sea urchins and wild boletus mushrooms. Like your sherry? Bring your best attempt at pumpkin carving along to be in with a chance of scooping a boozy prize. Scariest pumpkin wins.

Blood cocktails at Zetter Townhouse

We're pretty non-plussed about novelty cocktails but one that did catch our attention is the Nosferatini at Zetter. Tony Conigliaro has created a 'blood' cocktail which is basically a wet gin martini with a 'blood' solution. Too scared to go outside? Here's the recipe:

Nosferatini — by Tony Conigliaro, Zetter Townhouse Clerkenwell

50ml gin

15ml Dry Martini

2 drops drink factory blood solution

Add the gin and vermouth to a cocktail tin filled with ice and stir to dilute. Double strain into a chilled small coupette glass and garnish with two drops of blood.

Drink Factory Blood Solution Recipe

44g red food colouring

0.3g iron supplement

7g caster sugar

Powder the iron tablet. Weigh out all ingredients and stir together to combine.

Pumpkin beers

Finally, don't forget to check out our round up of this year's pumpkin beers — not nearly as terrifying as they sound.
