The Best London Art Galleries To Follow On Instagram

Too many art galleries on Instagram? Not sure which ones to follow? These are our picks.

Somerset House

Arts and cultural centre Somerset House's Instagram feed offers an eclectic selection of exhibition highlights, videos and more.

Unit London

Relative newbies on the London art scene, Unit London is run by Joe Kennedy and Jonny Burt, two 24-year-olds with a simple plan: to showcase cutting-edge art from across the world. They're all over social media,  believing art is for everyone and galleries shouldn't be exclusive.

National Portrait Gallery

Follow NPG for the inevitable raft of top portraits plus behind-the-scenes teasers, on-this-day factoids, and reminders to buy some honey from the hives on their roof when you're next paying a visit.

Serpentine Galleries

Join the Serpentine Galleries' followers for enticing shots from their current exhibitions.

Royal Academy

The RA's Instagram feed offers followers insights into its latest exhibitions, occasional videos, and Ai Weiwei's belly button. Plus tantaslising reposts from the connected @academiciansroom feed, the private members club for artists and art lovers.

White Cube

Two London galleries (plus one in Hong Kong) are the spaces behind this varied Instagram feed. Their followers are treated to art from the likes of Marc Quinn, Tracey Emin and Damien Hirst.

Barbican Centre

The Instagram feed from Europe's largest multiarts centre gives its followers so much more than just images from its galleries. Look out for plenty of video, as well as gorgeous shots of that unique Brutalist structure.

Gagosian Galleries

A truly international art brand, the Gagosian Galleries followers are treated to Instagram snaps from 15 locations worldwide: three of which are in London.

Tate

Another brand whose reach stretches beyond London, Tate's Instagram followers are treated to beautiful visuals from Liverpool and St Ives as well as the two London locations. But don't let that put you off: the remarkably varied offerings here are all fantastic.

Follow them for stunning, daily updates of great art from all over the globe.
