‘Tis the season to eat jolly well, with street food night markets popping up across town — and most of them bedding in for the long haul. Here’s our pick of the best places to fill your face al fresco while weather permits. After all, London’s nights may not be particularly balmy but if you can manage to spend the evening out and not shiver so much that you drop your burger, that’s something to be celebrated.
These are London’s best street food night markets, both current and upcoming. We’ll keep this list up-to-date throughout the season.
Street Feast: #ModelMarket
When? Fridays 5pm - late, Saturdays, midday - late; until 3 October
After a successful first run last year, this semi-covered south London street food fest is back. It’s run by Street Feast — also behind #DalstonYard and the winter’s Hawker House — and occupies a disused 1950s market on Lewisham High Street. Food options include sit-down ‘micro diners’ from Mother Flipper, Rola Wala, Smokestak and Yum Bun along with plenty more stalls both new and established. Five separate bars are on hand to keep the booze flowing, including ones which specialise in cocktails, rum, slushies and wine as well as a raised rooftop-style ‘highline’. Entry costs £3 after 7pm.

Urban Food Fest
When? Saturdays, 5pm - midnight
This weekly street food market held in a car park off Shoreditch High Street features a changing range of 15 food trucks alongside bars serving craft beers, cocktails, ciders and wines. There are pulled pork toasties from Holy Toast and Dirty Burger’s signature baps, alongside an array of new traders which even the most prolific of street food fans might not have sampled. The V corner provides one vegan street food stall every week. Entry is free.

Brixton Night Market
When? Friday 24 and Saturday 25 April, 5pm-11pm
Running for one weekend only, Brixton Night Market will offer street food, craft stalls and live music on Windrush Square. It’s a community initiative and prioritises new local stalls which are struggling to get pitches at other markets. It’s a great place to discover a top new trader before everyone else does.

Street Feast: #DalstonYard
When? Fridays 5pm - late, Saturdays, midday - late; from 1 May - 25 September;
Dalston Yard is Street Feast’s heartland and this summer it will be back with another impressive line-up of street food stalls, including Bao London, Kimchinary and Spit and Roast. Spirited drink options include the Gin Store, which you might remember from last year, and a Tequila Treehouse which is brand new. Entry costs £3 after 7pm.
#DalstonYard, Hartwell Street, E8 3DU
When? Fridays, 5pm - midnight; from 22 May - 29 August
On the boozy heels of this winter’s cocktail fest Night Tales comes this alfresco summertime spin-off. It’s taking over the Red Market space on Old Street for 15 weekends, offering cocktails galore from four separate bars and grub from some of the capital’s top restaurants and street food stalls, including Bonnie Gull, Burger & Lobster and Forza Win. There’ll also be DJs, a 20 metre sun terrace, hammocks and rope swings along with a ‘concrete jungle’ theme. Entry costs £4, or £5 after 9pm.
