Never Mind That Shit, Here Comes Mel Brooks!

Mel Brooks, the living legend behind classic comedies Blazing Saddles, High Anxiety, Silent Movie and The Producers, will be in town later this month to regale us with anecdotes about the silver screen and schnitzengruben.

Brooks’s incredible career stretches back to the days he pumped out sketches for Sid Caeser alongside Woody Allen and Neil Simon through his purple patch in the 70s and onto EGOT glory (he’s one of a very small elite who’ve managed to bag the four big US awards: an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony). He’s also very, very funny and still a bundle of energy at the ripe old age of 88.

The last time Londonist saw him in the capital was at the premiere of his stage musical version of The Producers — but rather than sitting in the front row in a tux, Brooks disguised himself as an usher.

Tickets have just gone on sale here – but you'd better be quick because they will disappear quickly since it’s just a one night stand (even if they are on the pricey side).

Mel Brooks Live In London is on 22 March in the Prince Of Wales Theatre near Leicester Square. The Producers is also due to return soon starring a host of local comics, plus JW3 is also putting on Brooks's legendary debut show, The 2000 Year Old Man.
