Here's a happy update on last week's story about Wilton's Music Hall's restoration funding.
Yesterday Wilton's, the world's last surviving music hall was awarded the £1.85m grant necessary to preserve the Georgian houses that make up the front of the building by the Heritage Lottery Fund. The funding represents a significant contribution towards the total £2.6m cost of the project. The Wilton's team, under conservation architects firm Tim Ronalds, can now start work on repairing the fabric of the building.
The project, which is due for completion in 2015, will open up a further 40% of the building. There'll be a new learning and participation studio, the potential to hire out the venue to more customers, and opportunities to develop the art and heritage centre's community activities.

This truly unique project will enable the rebirth of one of London's most remarkable theatrical buildings. Once completed, the restoration will enable a wide range of people to enjoy its authentic atmosphere and learn more about its amazing history."
