Where To Celebrate Thanksgiving In London

With weather like this what you need is a big old roast turkey dinner and a big ole piece of pie. If you can't be bothered with roasting that turkey till Christmas, here are some suggestions for feasting and being thankful American style tomorrow night. Book now! In no particular order:

The Ebury in Pimlico, SW1W 8NA will be serving a traditional Thanksgiving Roast Turkey with all the trimmings plus desserts including New York cheesecake and American style pancakes for £27.50 for 3 courses.

The Big Easy Barbecue and Crabshack on the Kings Road SW3 5UR offers a 2 course menu for £19.95 with a traditional turkey + pumpkin pie combo "home cooking style" with added "toe tapping" live music.

The Waterway, Maida Vale W9 2JU is doing a fancy roast turkey with sweet potato rosti, cranberry croustillant and blackcurrant sauce, then a classic Pumpkin pie at £27.50 for 3 courses.

Get a Thanksgiving Pizza with maple roasted turkey, spicy sausage, pancetta, sweet potato, blue cheese and roasted zucchini drizzled with a peanut-cranberry relish for £12.50 at Rocket restaurants on Adam Street EC2 1DX, Canary Wharf E14 5RB and Mayfair W1S 1EY.

Christopher's American Bar and Grill on Wellington Street, Covent Garden WC2E 7DD offers tempting variations on a traditional 3 course menu that may well require an elastic waistband - and at £38 a head, perhaps an elastic overdraft too.

The Scolt Head pub in De Beauvoir, N1 4HT hosts a Thanksgiving themed Pork Pie and Pickle Club comedy night in aid of The De Beauvoir Underground, raising money for a new community centre. Buy tickets for just £5. A special gourmet Thanksgiving Pie and sweet potato mash will be available at the night.

Bodeans in Soho W1F 8PZ, Fulham SW6 1EP, Clapham SW4 7SS and Tower Hill EC3R 5BA all offer a traditional family style 3 course turkey dinner for £19.95, screening NFL games from 5.30pm.

The Sports Cafe
on Haymarket SW1Y 4TE also shows NFL and throws a Thanksgiving Party till 3 in the morning.

Feel flush? Dine in style at The Stafford Hotel, home of the American Bar, is serving a set Thanksgiving lunch and dinner at £55 a head. Book 020 7493 0111.

Cheap and cheerful? The Diner in Soho W1F 7BU, Camden NW11 7BY, Islington N1 2SA, Shoreditch EC2A 3AQ and Kensal Rise NW10 3JJ does a turkey dinner for £9 till Sunday. Last year, the made their staff dress up as milkshakes, burgers and cheerleaders. Fingers crossed for a reprise.

Finally, the ginormous Texas Embassy Cantina just off Trafalgar Square SW1Y 5DL hosts a Thanksgiving dinner with turkey and all the trimmings, 3 courses for £19.75. We fear they got confused with the puds though: Pumpkin Cheesecake, anyone?
