Well, not all of them, obviously. But the London launch of a US newspaper heavyweight, and a high-profile fundraiser for a Presidential candidate, has given us threadbare cause to run that rather glib headline. Moving on.... For London's business and financial elite, the pink pages of the Financial Times are the only thing to be seen reading on the morning commute to work. However, the FT's sturdy grip on matters monetary will be challenged......

Um, we’d check before you travel if you’re planning to let the train take the strain over Easter. Miracle pensioner walks unscathed from exploding building.. There are still plans afoot to get that traditional East End sport, baseball on to the agenda in 2012… …which latter is apparently to leave us a stunning legacy. Is Travelodge taking over the known universe?. The Sun sets on Wapping as Murdoch moves to Broxbourne in Herts. St.......

Defying Doctor Johnson's epithet that a man tired of London is tired of life, Rupert Murdoch recently decamped to America and his latest plaything, the Wall Street Journal, declaring himself finished with our city. So what then of the building that encapsulates all he wrought on Britain's newspaper industry in the Eighties? "Fortress Wapping", the monolithic News International HQ in E1W so soubriqueted because of the heavy police guard it fielded against striking workers......

When Westminster City Council took on the free newspapers London Lite and The London Paper, Londonist was fully supportive. Tired of the masses of papers scattered around the city at the end of each day, the Council asked that Associated Newspapers (owners of London Lite) and Rupert Murdoch's News International (owners of The London Paper) take responsibility for the amount of rubbish they were creating and install 150 newspaper recycling bins around Westminster and......

Westminster City Council is making a stand against free London newspapers London Lite (owned by Associated Newspapers) and The London Paper (owned by Rupert Murdoch) not because the City Council is tired of the two types of non-news offered in the many, many copies distributed each day, nor are they taking an official stand against the irritating assault course of newspaper distributors outside each major tube and bus station but because there is just......

Hello Jeff! I've only written two proper columns abut the London comedy scene for Londonist, but already I'm getting offers of work from excited parties. For example, the guys at 'What Man?' magazine have asked me to cast a wry eye over the week's men, and I'm particularly excited by an offer from a notable tabloid, to write a column called 'Beef Review'. As the title suggests, it'll be me reviewing bits of beef......

After yesterday's story about London's drop in tourism rates, the London tourist board have sent some cockneys to America bearing copies of The Times to remind the Yanks of dear, old England. The Bank of England have raised interest rates to 5% - the highest rate in five years. Since the launch of The London PaperNewsCorp have seen their profits slip. But watch out Mr Murdoch, your one true nemesis - Preston from the......

A particularly silly article entitled Is London the New New York? Or Is It the Other Way Around? appeared recently in the New York Sun. The main arguments for the immediate twinning of our two cities put forward by the hackette what wrote said article seem to be: A) Paul McCartney, Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna all own homes in both cities; B) sushi-lovers can choose to eat from at least two Nobu restaurants; C)......

The Electoral Commission have today revealed the findings of their investigations into the cash for honours row, and it makes for an interesting read. The Tories were loaned £2.5m between April and June this year, the Lib Dems £782,780. But it was the Labour Party's figures that were of real interest. They were given £3.4m in donations, but did not take out any more loans. Why? Because they are in debt to the tune......

Oh no, not more sport! At the risk of sounding like a skipping CD, this is getting ridiculous. With Wimbledon added to the surfeit of sporting action on the small screen, there's even less room for actual, interesting programmes than ever. Summer of sport our collective arse (excluding our beloved sports desk of course!). Come, friendly clouds, and pour down rain on Wimbledon until the sexist pigs who run the thing are made to......

Lucky Soul play their last headline gig for a while tonight. Given that the World Cup match tonight is Mexico v Angola, we highly recommend you go to the gig instead as you'll get much more excitement and entertainment seeing the band play their sophisticated sunshine pop. We love this band as much as we love The Pipettes, and that's a serious amount of loving going on. The sharp-eyed amongst you may have also......

Opinions at Londonist are divided about "street artist" Banksy. Many contributors here have a very high opinion of the man and his work. This Londonista does not. However, considering the views of my colleagues and the fact that the publisher of this website is behind Streetsy.com, so we know what he likes, I'll tread as delicately as possible. Here's the short version for everyone who thinks that Banksy is, without question, fab and cool......

Londonist is always partial to a little bit of celebrity house-snooping, especially when the celebrity in question is 'media mogul of media moguls' Rupert Murdoch. Thanks have to go then to The Age who have summarised Wallpaper magazine's "rare tour through the Mayfair penthouse in which Mr Murdoch, wife Wendi Deng and two preschool daughters plan to spend about 10 weeks a year." So what's to see? Well, there's a bookcase on which stands,......

There's a theory that a murderer will always return to the scene of a crime so we shouldn't be too surprised to hear that Rupert Murdoch was back on Fleet Street yesterday. The fact that he was there to preside over a ceremony mourning the loss of London's famous journalistic home though is not just adding insult to injury, it's not even rubbing salt in the wound... it's a little like Harold Shipman turning......
