What a gorgeous pub this is. Elegantly decorated with nice historical touches harking back to the old, nearby telegraph station (note the lights next to the beer menu denoting what's on, and the mini telegraph station in the garden). Or maybe we're just a sucker for clear, clean typography.
The pub doubles its size with a beer garden out the back, which is one of the comfiest we've found and comes with a couple of fire pits to add a smoky texture to the air. The beer choice is excellent, albeit bloody expensive (nothing crafty on rotation for under a fiver on our visit, and plenty of pints costing over £6), but there are 20 different ales to choose from, plus more in the fridge.
We can also vouch for the tastiness of the veggie burger, though a friend who went for the carnivore option objects to them coming extremely well done — pink strictly disallowed.
