Wanstead Tap

Wanstead Tap

Part of our Best Pubs in London microsite. See if we've included your local.

Tucked away past some car-repair garages, in a railway arch under the Gospel Oak-Barking Overground hides the Wanstead Tap — understated home to one of the widest and best selections of beer in this part of London.

The shelves are stacked with 100 types of craft brew which you can sup in situ, or take home.

During the day you can often find families with young children here, parents sipping either a beer or a coffee while their kids play with the toys on the floor.

The Tap hosts film nights, comedy gigs, talks and live music. It also has an active notice board advertising local jumble sales, home-grown produce sales, gig flyers etc.

The real homely feel makes this a haven for beer-lovers — somewhere you can sample to your heart's (and liver's) content in a welcoming atmosphere. The only downside is the limited opening hours.
